The Port Harbor Railroad is excited to report that the list of commodities which have successfully been transferred from rail to barge is growing. Since its opening in February to shipments of dried distiller’s grains, the facility has handled unit trains of corn, soy meal, and now phosphate fertilizer. CSX delivered the 98-car train from Florida to Illinois in record time, and the PHRR is breaking it into four blocks to help. In order to keep the train moving, the PHRR uses two crews so that instead of having to wait two hours between blocks of cars, we can have the next set in place in as little as 25 minutes. This is just one more example of how the Respondek family of companies makes sure your crews are never left waiting on our crews! Via the PHRR, barge transloading is accessible from BNSF, CN, CSX, KCS, NS, and UP.
